The Robert Gard Lecture was established in 1999 by Arts Extension Service to honor a crucial pioneer in the community arts movement. In honor of the thirtieth anniversary of Arts Extension Service, this monograph brings together the first five years of Gard lectures. Given by communnity arts leaders from across the country, these men and women are passionate about the importance of the arts in the lives of Americans.
